Roosevelt Middle School Green Infrastructure Grant and Schoolyard Improvements

This year's first Principal Coffee Chat is tomorrow morning, Friday, 8/28, at 9am. It will take place online. Principal Leicham will share a short presentation and leave the remainder of the time for questions.

You can find the Google Meet link to join the meeting in Principal Leicham's communication sent yesterday (Weds, 8/26). She also included a link to a form you can fill out to share your questions beforehand. 

On March 11 at 6:30pm, we'll present The Smart Talk, a program in partnership with the National Parent Teacher Association. Join us to learn how you can create technology rules with your student and empower them to make smarter online decisions.

Our leader for this session is Askar Sattar, a technology and cybersecurity professional with over 25 years of experience in the field. Askar's expertise isn't confined to a professional setting – he's also a parent to an RMS student, and will share share firsthand experience on how to empowering youth to use technology while ensuring it's used safely and responsibly.

As part of the event, we will host a special dinner with free RMS Spirit Wear for in-person attendees. And thanks to a National PTA grant, we're offering attendees 18 years and older a chance to win an iPad Mini and Amazon gift cards to help put your new technology rules into practice. The Smart Talk Giveaway Rules:
 

• Open to Parents/Caregivers of Roosevelt Middle School, 18 years and older
• Participants must attend “The Smart Talk” at the March 11 RMS PTSA General Meeting, either in-person OR virtually.
• Registration for the draw will close at 6.30pm on March 11. 
• Late registrations will not be considered for the giveaway.
• Winners will be selected in a random draw at the end of “The Smart Talk” on March 11.
• If the person who is selected is not present at the time of the draw, the entry will be disqualified and a different name will be drawn.

Save the date for an RMS Beautification Event on Saturday, November 4th (9:00am - 12:00pm). There will be various other projects to improve and enhance the classrooms, facilities, and shared spaces of the school. Past projects include bench sanding & staining, furniture assembly, installation of shelves, light cleaning & sanitizing, repairs, painting, mulching, and gardening.

Please use this form to indicate your interest in volunteering and/or willingness to lend equipment (e.g., electric handheld sanders—there are 28+ benches still to be sanded & stained in the yard). Early accounting of available sanders & other equipment will enable pre-event scoping & supply acquisition. All skill levels welcome, no experience required. Bring a friend, family member, and your energy and enthusiasm for improving everyone's experience at RMS!
