Our school is facing a $100,000 budget shortfall. 
SFUSD cuts mean we're at risk of losing vital staff positions next school year. 

The PTSA is stepping in to bridge the gap, raising an extra $100,000 and increasing our total fundraising goal to $215,000. 

Dear Coyote Community,

Since the fall the PTSA has been fundraising for Roosevelt's Annual Fund. This year's goal of $115,000 allows us to support supplies, programs and events at RMS in the 2026-27 school year, including teacher classroom stipends, field trips such as the 8th grade camping trip, all of the lunch clubs, the drama production, and campus greening and improvements, to name just a few.

SFUSD is making budget cuts that will touch every school in the district. Principal Leicham has received the preliminary budget for RMS for 2026-27 and it falls short of covering all positions necessary to fully support our students and keep the 7-period day. The PTSA has been asked to fund $100,000 to help bridge this gap.

The PTSA is committed to raising an additional $100,000 to fill in the budget deficit and cover the cost of these positions. Combining this with the $115,000 of our Annual Fund, our new fundraising goal is $215,000.

At first glance it's easy to feel overwhelmed and frustrated by this number. However, we're a large Coyote Community, and we'll tackle this together! RAISING THESE FUNDS WILL BENEFIT LITERALLY EVERY STUDENT IN OUR EXCEPTIONAL SCHOOL. Every donation and dollar raised is progress towards our new goal, and we'll get there one bake sale and lemonade stand at a time.

To date this school year we've reached our initial $115,000 Annual Fund goal and are moving full speed ahead to raise the additional $100,000. Yes! The PTSA is creating fundraising materials you can share with others and will pass these on to the RMS community in the very near future.

Can my student and I come up with our own fundraisers to help raise money?

We hope the school year is going great for you and your student(s)! Although much of the news swirling around SFUSD is confusing and concerning, Roosevelt Middle School continues to offer our students an amazing academic and personal growth environment. Now, more than ever, it is critical as a community, working hand in hand with the Roosevelt Middle School Parent Teacher Student Association (RMS PTSA), to raise funds to supplement the educational experience of all RMS students, as well as financially support teachers and staff.

Our annual fall fundraising drive has a goal of raising $105,000. This is our only fundraiser of the year, so this is the time to give! We want to encourage as much participation as possible, no amount is too small—or too big! Roosevelt PTSA donations are tax-deductible (Tax ID # 90-0809982) as allowable by law.

RMS Community, we are almost 70% of the way toward our fundraising goal. Can you help us hit 100%?

As we get ready for Winter Break, we’re sharing an update on the Annual Fund Drive.

• We’ve raised $76,000 of our $110,000 goal = 69% of the way there!
• Almost 90 families have contributed = 20% participation!

We would love to say we achieved 100% participation from all families this year.  As we've mentioned before, no donation is too small and every little bit helps us get to our annual goal. If you haven't had a chance to donate, now is the time as we are hoping to reach $110,000 before the end of 2023.

RMS students, staff, and families thank you!

It's that time of year...the Annual Fund Drive!  Similar to years past, the RMS PTSA is asking the community to give what it can in support of this wonderful school, the staff, and our students. 

Our goal is to raise $110,000 before the end of December.  This is our only fundraiser of the year, and how we generate 90% of funds that support programs and services our students, teachers, and staff rely on. This includes:

• School beautification (yard upgrades, hallway murals, auditorium improvements)
• Lunchtime clubs (teacher honorariums, club supplies)
• Teacher classroom stipends
• Teacher appreciation events
• Eighth grade graduation activities
• Field trips
• Community-building events
• PTSA meetings
• ...and much more
